Hey everyone,

I just finished setting up the ClubPenguinHQ IRC channel at the popular free and open source software IRC network "freenode." Basically, it's the best multi-user chat system that's been developed so far. It will be much more stable to use than flash chat!

For those of you who want to use the web client, here's the link: http://clubpenguinhq.com/chat/
If you've never used IRC before, that's probably the link for you.

For those of you who have IRC clients and know how to use them, here is the information:
Host: chat.freenode.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #cphq

This replaces flash chat as the official ClubPenguinHQ chat system. Happy chatting!

P.S. As you can see, there is a new "Chat" link up at the top of the forums near where the "Logout" link is. It doesn't do it yet, but pretty soon when you click it, it will automatically set your ClubPenguinHQ username as your IRC nick. For now, you'll have to do that manually. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry about it!

Is it more stable now?When Fire asked me to test it he told me it wasn't. Also the Link to it on the home page isn't working either.

I suggest a better Background, The current is boring.

I like the chat, but I think the old one was better. First of all people can impersonate other people such as staff members, and that could lead to many problems. The new chat seems a bit boring.

I liked the old chat better, but it doesn't matter. I am just glad it's up.

Finally! A real IRC, a real chat.
A real need to use the /slap command...

Here is a tutorial for how to register your name in the chat.

This should be done in a private channel:

1. Go on the chat.
2. Type in the following:

Code:

/nick <your-name>

Here is an example of how it would look:

Code:

/nick Mike_92

3. Once you have the name you like, type in the following.

Code:

/msg nickserv register <your-password> <your-email>

Here is an example of how it would look:

Code:

/msg nickserv register abc123 mike92cp@gmail.com

4. Check the email you provided for an email from "freenode Nickname Registration".
5. Open the email and copy the command they gave you in the email into the chat.

Here is an example of how it would look:

Code:

/msg NickServ VERIFY REGISTER Mike_92 aaskdfklsllask

Once you have done that you should be registered, now you can login to your name by typing in the following:

Code:

/msg nickserv identify <your-password>

Here is an example of how it would look:

Code:

/msg nickserv identify abc123

Now you're done

I recommend using a chat client like Pidgin so you can have the CPHQ chat running next to your IMs.
