Default How to Download and install .ocx files (Windows XP) - Friday, July 18th, 2008

ok this will show you how to install an .ocx file into your basic computer, this will fix all files you download that need a certain .ocx file (will prevent an error from popping up saying you need an .ocx file and you can use the program)

1. first google search the .ocx file you want to download, we will use an example to make this simple our example will be comdlg.ocx, normally in the google search the first result is the best download (open the spoiler for a simpler version of this step)

2. save the file to your desktop (this will make the rest easier)

3. go to start > run > type in System32, sometimes your computer will hide this folder because it contains vital files just click the button that says "look at this file" (or something like that) and don't worry there is almost no risk opening this folder just don't delete anything and you'll be fine, be sure to keep this folder open until I tell you to close it

4. now drag the file (comdlg.ocx in this case) from your desktop into the system32 (it dosen't matter what posistion you drag it into, as long as it's in the system32) a box should pop up telling you the file is transferring let it finish transferring or else it won't work properly

5. close the system32 and your computer is now improved

I hope this helped some people out there

This tutorial does not need a thread.
You made it as hard as possible to do this, too.

1. Go to http://ocxdump.com
2. Use the search function to find and download your file.
3. Place the OCX in the folder with the program that needs it.
