Hello Programmers!
The programming forum is an excellent place to discuss and learn about writing your own code. Many people share code here for everyone to learn from. Some people also use this as a place to release the programs they've written. When they do this, they often release their programs in binary AKA compiled format, EXEs or otherwise. That doesn't benefit anyone, because nobody can learn from their code or improve it.
From now on, all software released in the Programming forum on ClubPenguinHQ will be required to follow
open source principles, meaning that along with the binaries, you will have to release the source code. To protect yourself from anyone "stealing" your code, you can license it under an
open source license.
This will benefit everyone here in the programming forum. But some of you may want to keep your source private. That's understandable, and you still have an opportunity to do that. If your program is Club Penguin related, you can still release it in General Club Penguin Discussion without releasing its source.
All violations of this rule will be dealt with by removing the link/attachment and/or deleting the offending post. No bans will be issued in regards to this rule.
