seeing how the economy is so bad and a depression is likely Clubpenguin should speed up the process and have a depression in Clubpenguin that will effect the penguins same way as it does people in real life! First of all the free items would be soup from a soup kitchen and bread from a breadline the member only items would be a can of beans and a stick with a checkered red and white cloth at the end of it with a bunch of worthless crap in it. And here is the really fun part; if you have 10000 coins or less you will lose all of your money and if you have 0 coins for more than 3 days your igloo will be taken away and you will be permanently banned after your igloo is gone or you can buy a box for 1 coin and live in that. But if you don't want to live in a box or be permanently banned you can sell all of your precious little items to other people for coins but beware you're money will be slowly drained every minute you'll have to find a job. But oh wait all of the good jobs require college and your parents didn't have enough money for college so you have to work at the pizza parlor where you only get payed 1 coin every pizza you make. Also you have to log on every day at a certain time to go work there or you will lose your job. And finally when you think it couldn't get any worse the pizza parlor starts going out of business and you get laid off! Then you have to go find another job only to find all of the other businesses in town also went out of business. So you wait for all of your money to slowly be drained out by the tax collectors if you don't want to get banned you better go buy a box! Boy would that be one fun party or what?
