Changes on these forums. And what we really need.

Well, I'm sure everyone remembers the day you went onto CPHQ and saw only a mibbit chat box. And a down screen that said "Currently switching to vBulletin, we will be back as soon as possible" or something like that. I guarantee half of us were excited for the change, while the other half was disappointed. I, myself, was ecstatic. And I couldn't wait to see these new forums. Although, I hadn't been active at the time, but I was ready to see this new update RK put at least 200 dollars into.

All of us thought it would be a step up. I remember RK had asked me a while back if we should switch to vBull. I think we even did a vote to see if users would like it. And all as I was staff, Andy would bring it up to me constantly. I didn't want to, but I always thought about what it would be like. I was proven wrong. Once I was able to get to my account, the features were endless. I thought it was an excellent switch, until Adam had resigned because of it.

Hearing Adam had resigned because of the switch, I was astounded. I couldn't believe it. Honestly, I thought everyone would like it. And it would be a good switch. But apparently, as time went on, it had gotten worse. And perhaps it is a coincidence, but apparently, as soon as we got vBull, users seemed more pissed. And sensitive. It was different layout. But it was not a different forum.

I'd just like to say to everyone, get used to these forums. And think of them as if they were the old CPHQ. On phpBB3. We are a new layout, but not a new forum. RancidKraut payed 250 dollars for the step up. And we need to be grateful for the change. He could have used that to buy supplies for college. But did he? No. He invested it into vBulletin. For us. Not for him, but for US. The staff seems like they are less active because of the forum change. And it seems these forums are more and more hellish as days go on.

There is no way we are switching back to phpBB3. So either be the best you can be on a new layout, or leave. As I am a strong advocate for giving the users a better chance to vote, and have a say in new CPHQ projects. It seems as if this will come around, soon. Hopefully with the new project coming to CPHQ. That we hope everyone will like. These forums are not run by the staff, but ran by us. Either we get used to the way it is, or we don't. And fade away.

We need to understand that everyone does their part here. Admins keep this place in shape. Moderators keep this place in tune. And bring "Justice" to rule breakers. Bloggers post on the CPHQ blog. Every 2 months or so. We all have parts on forums. And we need to do these parts. Because if we aren't doing our parts, then what are we doing? Other than sitting on a laptop or home computer browsing the forums picking your nose and wiping it on your mousepad.

My tips to staff: Try your best to actually understand what your new moderators can do. What they are best at, and when they will be on. Have them understand that it is a dedication to be a staff member. And that there might be 13,000? users. And out of all of them, your a staff member. Not exactly a huge chance. And if you try, you can succeed to become a staff member. But be sure that you are dedicated. And are willing to do work.


I'm just letting everyone know what I think this forum needs. And that we need to get used to this new forum. Because it isn't changing anytime soon.

i guess fire has a point. So i truly apolagize for my griping about this forum, and i am truly greatful. So i sincerly apoligze and would like to thank rk for investing in making my online expirience better.
